Why Copper Prices Are Up This Week

Copper prices have risen for three straight days. The main reason is strong buying by cable manufacturers in Noida and Delhi. With summer approaching, demand from the power and electrical sector typically goes up — and that is happening now.

What does this mean for scrap sellers? If you are holding copper scrap, this week is a good time to sell. Prices are at a 3-month high. Grade A Bare Bright is above ₹680 for the first time since December 2025

Ghaziabad vs Noida vs Delhi — Is There a Price Difference?

Yes, but it is small. Typically Ghaziabad and Noida are within ₹5–10/kg of each other. Delhi markets like Mayapuri and Loni Road may offer slightly higher prices due to higher buyer competition and larger volumes. For small sellers (under 100kg), the difference is not worth travelling for. For large quantities (500kg+), it is worth calling multiple buyers.

For Indian traders: Minor metals are not traded on MCX or BSE. They are bought and sold through specialist importers and distributors. If you are looking to source any of these metals in India, contact us — we are building a verified directory of minor metal suppliers.

Questions Traders Are Asking This Week

Will copper prices keep going up?
The short-term trend is up due to cable sector demand. However, no one can predict exactly. If you need to sell, current prices are good. If you can hold for 2–3 weeks, there may be a further small rise — but there is also risk of correction.

How do I know if my copper is Grade A or Grade B?
Grade A (Bare Bright) must be clean, uncoated copper wire with no solder, paint or insulation. If there is any coating or it is thinner than 1mm, it is Grade B or #1 wire. Our metal grading guide explains this in detail — coming soon.
